Directions to Mount Sam Chau Doc
If you are departing from Ho Chi Minh City or other provinces near An Giang, you can easily book a bus ticket directly to Mount Sam, Chau Doc. Bus tickets to Mount Sam, Chau Doc typically cost only around 150,000 – 300,000 VND/one-way (depending on your departure location).
Alternatively, you can also go by motorbike or drive a car yourself to be more flexible with your travel. Annually, Chau Doc welcomes a large number of visitors from all over to visit Ba Chua Xu Temple and for sightseeing. Therefore, the transportation system and roads to Mount Sam Chau Doc are also very developed.
From Chau Doc city, you need to continue moving southwest for another 5km on Tan Lo Kieu Luong road, known as the most beautiful road in Chau Doc, to reach the Mount Sam National Tourist Area. The area around the foot of Mount Sam is a bustling market with motorbike and car parking lots, making it very easy and convenient if you drive yourself there.

The entrance to the Mount Sam cable car is opposite the back entrance of Ba Chua Xu Temple on Mount Sam. As soon as you get near the foot of Mount Sam, look up at the peak and you’ll be able to see the cable car cabins continuously moving up and down, making it very easy to locate the Mount Sam Chau Doc cable car.
Latest Mount Sam Cable Car Ticket Prices
The cable car system at Mount Sam is equipped with 37 cabins. Each cabin has automatic glass doors, a spacious and clean seating area, and can accommodate 8 passengers per cabin. The latest Mount Sam cable car ticket prices are:
- Round trip ticket: 150,000 VND/adult and 70,000 VND/child.
- One-way ticket: 75,000 VND/adult and 35,000 VND/child.
- Notably, cable car tickets are free for children under 1.2m and seniors (over 70 years old) – this is something I really like and highly recommend to everyone; it’s very reasonable for multi-generational family travel groups like mine.
After purchasing tickets, the tourist area also provides complimentary electric car shuttle services to and from the gate. Therefore, I believe the Mount Sam cable car ticket prices are very reasonable and suitable for many people, especially those who have never ridden a cable car should definitely try it to enjoy the feeling of floating in the air and admiring the vibrant panoramic view of Chau Doc today!

- Mount Sam Cable Car Station: Designed with the distinctive architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral, it’s a popular spot for visitors to stop and check-in.
- Miniature One Pillar Pagoda: Within the cable car station’s grounds, visitors will find a miniature model of the One Pillar Pagoda. This majestic pagoda, set amidst a lotus pond, transports visitors back to the peaceful ambiance of Hanoi, the thousand-year-old land of culture.
- Jade Buddha Temple: A visit to the Jade Buddha Temple on Mount Sam is a must for anyone taking the Mount Sam cable car. A rare jade block was once extracted from the global jade mining area in Northeast Vancouver (Canada), and this block was then crafted into a statue of Shakyamuni Buddha. The Jade Buddha Temple has enshrined this special Buddha statue and worships it inside the temple.
- Mount Sam Summit Square: This is an ideal spot to admire the vibrant panoramic view of Chau Doc and is also the best high-altitude check-in point on Mount Sam. There’s also a telescope here; if you want to experience a closer look at the architectural structures below, you can purchase tokens (10,000 VND/token for 2 minutes of viewing).
- “Pink Valentine” Love Bridge: One of the unique, unmissable spots is the love bridge with two pink heart shapes. This is a favorite check-in location for visitors to Mount Sam.
- “Ba’s Pedestal” on Mount Sam’s Summit: This is where Ba Chua Xu of Mount Sam resided before being escorted down to the foot of the mountain by nine virgin girls to establish the temple as it stands today. Because of this sacredness, many pilgrims, after visiting Ba Chua Xu Temple at the foot of the mountain, also wish to ascend to the summit to visit “Ba’s pedestal.”

Hang Pagoda (also known as Phuoc Dien Tu) is a famous pagoda known for its remarkably prominent and prime location on the slope of Mount Sam. With its ancient, solemn, and extremely impressive architecture, it’s an unmissable spiritual destination when traveling to Mount Sam, Chau Doc.
Tay An Pagoda (Tay An Co Tu)
Tay An Co Tu Pagoda is one of the oldest and most sacred pagodas in Chau Doc, An Giang. Built in the 19th century, this pagoda is not only an important pilgrimage site but also a unique work of architectural art, harmoniously blending Indian styles with traditional Vietnamese temple architecture.
Thoai Ngoc Hau Mausoleum
Thoai Ngoc Hau Mausoleum is one of the significant and sacred historical relics in Chau Doc, An Giang. This is the resting place of the renowned mandarin Nguyen Van Thoai, also known as Thoai Ngoc Hau, an official who made great contributions to land reclamation, cultivation, and the digging of the Vinh Te Canal and Thoai Ha Canal during the Nguyen Dynasty.
Shakyamuni Buddha Statue Carved on Mount Sam Cliff
This is a prominent architectural work still under construction, yet the Shakyamuni Buddha statue carved into the cliff has already attracted many visitors for check-ins and viewing. When completed, it will be the world’s tallest “meditating Buddha statue carved into a cliff” – a great source of pride for this land of spiritual significance and outstanding individuals.
