Nam Cat Tien has its own unique beauty in every season. From my experience, you should visit between December and May to fully appreciate its beauty and easily participate in many exciting activities. During this time, the weather in Nam Cat Tien is dry with little rain, which is very convenient for cycling through the forest.
If you visit during other seasons, you’ll need to check the forecast and plan your essentials accordingly. I personally enjoy trekking in the rainy season, but it requires packing more gear than usual. So, the best time to go really depends on the purpose of your trip.

Go Trekking and Explore the Forest Ecosystem
What I love about trekking in Nam Cat Tien is the adventurous experience itself. You’ll get to trek through dense forests, witnessing firsthand the impressive ecosystem and wild animals in their natural habitat. For this journey, you’ll need to pack essential items like personal belongings, food, water, and a map to avoid getting lost.
Fun at Bau Sau (Crocodile Lake)
A trip to Nam Cat Tien definitely can’t miss Bau Sau, home to over 60 species of rare freshwater crocodiles. To visit, you’ll need to purchase an entrance ticket for 140,000 VND per person. Bicycle rental costs 30,000 VND per person per hour, and a round-trip jeep ride is 500,000 VND.
Discovering the Bear Rescue Center
The Bear Rescue Center in Nam Cat Tien is a favorite among children and attracts a large number of visitors daily. This center rehabilitates and supports injured or accident-stricken bears, helping them recover their health. Here, you’ll find many adorable bears of various ages, all well cared for and playing happily.
