Have you ever conquered the famous waterfalls in Dak Nong such as Lieng Nung, Ta Dung, Dray Sap, … and are looking for a newer destination? Let’s follow me to find Dak Rop – a natural waterfall in Dak Nong that can be considered the most multi-tiered and diverse in terms of terrain and geology.
Learn about the natural waterfalls in Dak Nong
Dak Nong is famous for its wild and mysterious beauty. This place attracts those who love to experience, explore and conquer nature. Creation has blessed this place with majestic, but no less poetic, waterfalls.

Undeniably, famous waterfalls in Dak Nong like Dray Sap, Dak G’Lun, or Gia Long waterfall all possess their own unique beauty. But there is one waterfall that has a strange, unique beauty, with an extremely difficult journey to conquer, and not everyone can set foot here. That is Dak Rop waterfall. Fortunately, on one trip, I was able to join an expedition to conquer this incredibly majestic natural waterfall in Dak Nong.

Where is Dak Rop Waterfall?
The path to conquer the most majestic waterfall in Dak Nong lies deep within the vast primary forest. Dak Rop waterfall is located within the Nam Tay Nguyen (Southern Central Highlands) primary forest, in Tuy Duc district, Dak Nong province. To reach the waterfall, you must first travel tens of kilometers through stretches of road amidst the pine trees of the primary forest, and of course, upon arrival, your phone will no longer have a signal.

From the main road, there is a path leading deep into the forest. Following this path for about 2km, you will reach the upstream source of the waterfall. However, I do not encourage you to go alone, as the way here is very dangerous (which I will mention later). You should only go with experienced trekkers who know the route and can guide you.
Exploring Dak Rop Waterfall
The journey of conquest
When I went to Dak Rop waterfall, our group was one of the first survey teams there, so it was still quite wild. The path to the falls was actually just our guide navigating through the forest, relying on his sense of direction, which made it quite dangerous. As you can see, the path is quite narrow, and the dense forest trees almost completely block the way. In these sections, larger individuals have to bend down as low as possible to get through.

That’s not all; the bushes here contain countless thorny plants, so you must observe with utmost care to pass safely. The closer the path gets to the waterfall, the steeper and more treacherous it becomes. A rather interesting thing you’ll find on this route are natural wild boar dens along the way. Wild boars make their dens underground and cover them with dry leaves for camouflage. Therefore, if you are not careful, you might come face to face with this wild animal.

Discovering the countless tiers of Dak Rop Waterfall
As I mentioned, exploring Dak Rop Waterfall – the waterfall in Dak Nong – is only suitable for those who love adventurous experiences and have previous high-difficulty trekking experience. But once you arrive, you will be astonished by the beauty that nature has bestowed upon this place. The upstream area of the falls consists of two parallel waterfalls, about 50 meters high, pouring white water down to a system of smaller tiers below. I visited during the rainy season, so the water here was flowing extremely powerfully, sending white foam splashing everywhere. It’s very difficult to get a good check-in photo here because the waterfall’s current is so strong.

The parallel twin falls are just the upper part of the waterfall. Following the flow downwards reveals a system of other tiers that are just as special. What I couldn’t have imagined is that each tier of Dak Rop waterfall possesses a different geology and geomorphology.

The further you go downstream, the more distinct each tier becomes. Some falls have a sandy bottom, requiring you to be wary of sinking sand with every step. Some are full of gravel and stones. Yet another has a bed made entirely of slate, making it very flat. The scenery at each section of the waterfall is also different, ensuring that visitors never feel bored.

The lower section of the waterfall is a small lake, bordered by a murmuring stream. The view from the end of the falls down to the lake is quite high, and the surrounding trees form a circular body of water, making it look like “Tuyet Tinh Coc” (The Valley of Absolute Love – a famous location from martial arts fiction). This lake is quite shallow, so you can swim or go paddleboarding!
