Where is Cuc Phuong Forest?
Located about 120km south of Hanoi city center, Cuc Phuong National Park is nestled deep within the Tam Diep mountain range. Cuc Phuong Forest has a very large area, up to 22,408 hectares, stretching across the territories of three provinces: Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, and Thanh Hoa.

Cuc Phuong is Vietnam’s first national park, and its biodiversity has helped Cuc Phuong be honored as Asia’s leading national park. Butterfly season in Cuc Phuong National Park annually falls around the end of April in the Gregorian calendar, so this time attracts many tourists who come to visit and see the butterflies. It is known that Cuc Phuong Forest has more than 400 species of butterflies, and visitors here will admire and see millions of butterflies flying in the air and covering the paths.
Butterflies appear all over the paths and can sometimes number in the tens of thousands because the weather is sunny at this time. If it rains the night before, and the next morning is sunny, the most butterflies will appear.

Besides the butterfly season, Cuc Phuong National Park also attracts visitors with its shimmering and magical firefly swarms, like something out of a fairytale. Nowadays, fireflies can only be seen when visiting pristine and untouched forests.

- Children from 1st to 11th grade: 10,000 VND/person/visit

What are the attractions in Cuc Phuong National Park?
1. Ancient Man Cave in Cuc Phuong National Park
The Ancient Man Cave, also known as Dang Cave, preserves traces of the residence and burial culture of prehistoric people. It is a site of great historical and archaeological value.

2. Con Moong Cave
Located in Thanh Hoa province, Con Moong Cave boasts a unique shape with a large rock protruding outwards, resembling an animal. Therefore, the locals named the cave accordingly.
The cave is situated in an ideal location with a gurgling stream in front and a diverse animal system all around. More especially, the cave also has archaeological value as it was a residence of ancient humans and is a relic ranked as a National Monument.
3. Trang Khuyet Cave (Crescent Moon Cave)
Seen from afar, the cave has a crescent moon shape, hence its name. Trang Khuyet Cave possesses a unique stalactite system, but because it is hidden deep in the forest, you need a guide to accompany you for safety.

4. May Bac Peak (Silver Cloud Peak)
May Bac Peak is an ideal destination when exploring Cuc Phuong National Park. Located at an altitude of 648 meters above sea level, standing from May Bac Peak, you can admire the panoramic view of Cuc Phuong Forest, with the Bai Dinh Pagoda complex and the ancient capital of Hoa Lu in the distance.
Despite having such an impressive view, May Bac Peak is quite difficult to conquer due to the challenging roads with many steep sections. This place is only suitable for travel enthusiasts who love the trekking and climbing experience.

5. Yen Quang Lake – Pho Ma Cave
Going about 8km back towards Nho Quan, you will see Tri Phuong Bridge. From here, turn right and go west for a short distance to see Yen Quang Lake and Pho Ma Cave.
Yen Quang Lake possesses clear blue water with gentle, poetic ripples. In contrast, the beauty of Pho Ma Cave is wilder, with countless shapes of stalactites hanging down like beaded curtains.
6. Muong Village
The Muong ethnic people live scattered around the Cuc Phuong National Park area, so when you come here, you will easily encounter Muong villages with their sparse stilt houses and terraced fields.
