Bali is no longer an unfamiliar place to young people, having become a “resort paradise” that millions adore. This past July, I had the opportunity to explore Bali for 4 days and 3 nights, enjoying incredibly special and exciting experiences. What’s beautiful about Bali? What’s fun to do there? I’ll reveal it all in this article to provide you with useful tips and essential information.
Introduction to Bali
You’ve probably heard a lot about Bali as a resort paradise, but do you know what country Bali is in? It’s a very famous island in Indonesia, a highly sought-after tourist destination known for its azure waters, stretching white sand beaches, and ancient, sacred temples. Bali is the name of an island and one of Indonesia’s 33 provinces, a prominent and beloved destination in Asia for many travelers.
Bali, located in a tropical climate zone, experiences hot and humid weather year-round. The island has two distinct seasons: the rainy season (lasting from October to April) and the dry season (from May to September). Here are a few key things to keep in mind when planning your trip to Bali:
- Peak season for tourism in Bali is during the dry months, but be aware that prices also tend to increase at this time.
- Currency: The local currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Based on my experience, it’s a good idea to exchange your money before arriving in Bali.
- Languages: The commonly spoken languages are Balinese, Indonesian, and English.
- Transportation: Public transportation isn’t very common in Bali. Your best options for getting around are to rent a bicycle, scooter, car, or use taxis.
What’s beautiful about Bali?
If you think a trip to Bali is just about taking beautiful photos for social media, you’re missing out! Besides being blessed with stunning natural beauty, the island offers so many other exciting things to discover. For this trip, I joined a 4-day, 3-night group tour of Bali, which allowed me to experience quite a lot of what this beautiful island has to offer.

Tanah Lot Temple – What to Do in Bali?
Tanah Lot is one of the most famous and mystifying temples with the longest history on the island of Bali. This temple truly stands out from others in Bali due to its unique location and architectural style. I arrived just in time for sunset, capturing the most beautiful moments of Tanah Lot Temple. For photography enthusiasts like me, this is truly the “golden hour” to capture this stunning scenery.
Because it’s surrounded by water, I could only visit Tanah Lot Temple when the tide was low. The gates here are all designed to resemble the sacred Mount Meru split in two, creating a truly unique and divine atmosphere.

Nusa Penida Island
Nusa Penida Island is an absolute must-visit when you come to Bali, Indonesia. This island was formed by volcanic activity, and over time, strong sea erosion has carved deep into its cliffs, creating the distinct dinosaur-like shape you see today.
At Nusa Penida, a truly spectacular Bali destination, you’ll witness an incredible sight: from above, you’ll see the complete outline of a giant dinosaur with its head tucked into a cave and its tail extending towards the sea. To the left of this “dinosaur” is a small, oval-shaped island, like an egg, and to its right, a white sandy beach with deep blue water.

Angel’s Billabong Cliff is another spot you absolutely shouldn’t miss. This place looks like a large natural pool, formed by the gradual eruption of lava from within a volcano, resulting in crystal-clear turquoise waters nestled between two cliffs.
This legendary natural rock bridge is also a fantastic spot for you to check in and capture some stunning, artistic photos. Day by day, seawater flows into the pool through an eroded hole in the cliff face, making it look almost broken. Perhaps that’s why it’s been given the name Broken Bridge.
White Water Rafting on the Ayung River – What to Do in Bali?
This was perhaps one of my most favorite activities in Bali! White water rafting on the Ayung River is perfect for anyone who loves exploring nature and enjoys an adventure. The Ayung River is known as the longest and most beautiful river on Bali island.
Taking this tour, you’ll get to raft down the Ayung River, cutting through lush green forests and winding your way through twisting, turning gorges. As you emerge from the deep canyons, you’ll be treated to the sight of vast, emerald-green rice terraces.
Even though it’s an adventure tour, I saw many families participating, and it’s perfectly suitable as long as participants are at least 5 years old and in good health. If I ever get the chance to return to Bali, I’ll definitely do this incredibly fun Ayung River rafting trip again!

Uluwatu Temple – A Famous Bali Tourist Attraction
Uluwatu Temple is located in the southern part of Bali, specifically in Pecatu village, South Kuta district of Badung, Bali, Indonesia. Perched atop a steep cliff approximately 70 meters above sea level, Uluwatu Temple offers a magnificent view overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Surrounding the temple is a small forest, home to hundreds of monkeys. The locals here believe that these monkeys are the temple’s loyal guardians. The path leading into the temple is quite winding and made of sturdy concrete pillars embedded into the rock, resembling an incredibly strong fortress. The scene of waves gently crashing against the rocks, with lush green cliffs on one side and deep blue waters on the other, is absolutely picturesque.
River D’Tukad Club: Explore Blangsinga Waterfall
River D’Tukad Club is situated right next to the famous Blangsinga Waterfall and is Bali’s first river club resort. This place integrates numerous exciting activities that have become synonymous with the Bali brand, including an infinity pool, bird’s nest photo spots, and the giant Bali Swing.
Blangsinga Waterfall is truly magnificent, with water cascading down from high mountains, creating a foamy white spectacle. The natural backdrop of Blangsinga Waterfall makes the entire scene even more mystical and poetic. It’s clear that Mother Nature has greatly favored Bali, blessing it with not only blue seas and white sands and rivers stretching through beautiful landscapes, but also majestic waterfalls that draw many visitors for photos and sightseeing. For this particular spot, you should aim to visit during the rainy season for a more powerful flow of water.
River D’Tukad Club is an entertainment hub designed for everyone to explore. It’s a place that integrates numerous activities, dining options, and relaxation opportunities, so you can easily spend an entire day unwinding and having new experiences.

How Much Does a Trip to Bali Cost?
Although it’s dubbed a “resort paradise,” the cost of traveling to Bali isn’t as expensive as you might think. Depending on the time of year, Bali travel prices will vary. A Bali tour package typically ranges from 8 to 12 million VND for 4-5 days. This price varies based on the services you choose, the quality of your accommodation, and so forth.
If you travel to Bali independently, your costs will significantly decrease. However, you’ll need to prepare quite thoroughly and plan your own itinerary to avoid wasting time once you’re there. Whether you explore Bali on a tour or independently, you should always set aside some extra funds for souvenirs, experiencing exciting services, and enjoying the unique dishes on Bali island.
Savoring Bali’s Specialties
Bali is also home to a unique and rich culinary scene with many dishes that captivate visitors. I’ll introduce you to some of Bali’s signature dishes, which blend Indian influences with local flavors.
- Sate Lembat: This special Balinese grilled meat dish is made from minced meat mixed with grated coconut, cardamom, and tamarind, then skewered and grilled over hot coals. It boasts a distinctive flavor found only on Bali island.
- Lawar – Indonesian Mixed Rice Salad: This dish consists of minced meat, grated coconut pulp, various vegetables, and several herbs, often served with roasted suckling pig.
- Nasi Uduk: This is a traditional Balinese rice dish, cooked with coconut milk and served with boiled eggs, shredded fried eggs, seasoned chicken, seasoned pork, chili sauce, and traditional Balinese tempeh.
- Ayam Betutu (Betutu Chicken): This dish is elaborately prepared and incredibly flavorful. The chicken is marinated for 8 hours with shallots, garlic, ginger, chili, peanuts, and other spices, making it very rich.
- Bakso: Similar to Vietnam’s street food skewers, this is a favorite among students and tourists. This dish is a compilation of various deep-fried street food balls like beef balls, chicken balls, wontons, deep-fried tofu, and more.
- Otak-Otak: This is a specialty grilled fish dish from Bali, made with mackerel. The fish meat is finely minced, marinated with coconut milk, lemongrass, chili, and other spices, then wrapped in banana leaves and grilled over hot coals.
I hope my experiences from this 4-day, 3-night Bali trip provide useful information for anyone planning to explore this destination. In my opinion, Bali truly is a resort paradise, offering affordable prices and countless beautiful sights and exciting activities.
